Back to Work

It’s been a lazy summer. I hadn’t intended for it to be that way, but that’s the way it turned out. I blame it on the heat. Yes, I did manage to write the first 10,000 words of my grandmother’s story back in July, when I still had some motivation. I also worked on a couple of short stories for fall publications. Mostly, though, I perfected my already well-practised skills of procrastination and distraction.

Now it’s September, and my internal clock has told me the fun’s over. It’s time to get back to work. It’s also time to start blogging again. Last spring I stopped blogging for several reasons, none of them important enough to mention. I don’t know about you, but once I stop, it’s not easy to resume an activity. This time around, I have more of a focus.

Last week I began the first draft of the third book in The Calli Barnow Mystery Series. I can now call it a series, because the second book will be published next spring. I thought it might be interesting to chronicle the writing process for book #3 and the editing and revisions for book #2, leading up to its publication date. I hope that my blog readers will also find it of interest. I can’t promise that I won’t from time to time drop other titbits into a blog, but I’ll try to show constraint.

  1. I too like to write by hand. However, I am finding myself writing on my laptop more and more.
